Musical Book Writer
Peter Stone, Book Writer is essentially a play writer working colaboratively with the Lyricist and Composer.
The book writer is responsible for the story of the musical. This forms part of a creative collaboration between these three roles to create the storyline, script, lyrics (together know as the libretto) and the composter who is responsible for the musical score (containing the music)
WICKED's book writer, Winnie Holzman, defined characters, built plot and weaved together themes to bring the story of Elphaba and Glinda to the stage.The skill needed to adapt Gregory Maguire's novel into a stageable script takes both collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking. Working closely with the rest of the creative team.
