Exploring Music Products and Styles

Each of your presentations must include this following

  1. When – Era/date    Where – Country/area of origin      Who – Key Musicians

  2. Influences – What music came before this style that has had an impact of this style.

  3. Key Musical Features – What are the key musical ingredients that make this style

  4. Instrumentation – A slide on each instrument that is used in this style with details on how its played

  5. Listen and evaluate – You listen to a song in this style and write about it

  6. You Perform – Video of you performing music in this style – Write up of what you played and how it is in this style

  7. You Create – Bandlab – compose a short musical example of this style.

  8. Compare – Choose another style(s) of music and compare the similarities and differences.

In this component you will create a 5 portfolios on different styles of music.

  • You will demonstrate your understanding of the musical ingredients that make this style of music.

  • You will use your portfolio to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of how musical elements have been used to create the 5 styles of music.

  • You will use youtube videos and music recordings to evidence what you have written.

  • You will outline the musical styles which have come before these styles which have had influence.

  • You will outline key performers/composers/producers that have been influential in that particular musical style

  • You will record yourself performing various musical instruments to demonstrate your practical understanding for how they are used to create each musical style.

  • You will write musical reviews of songs in each style

  • You will compare each musical style to another style to show the similarities and differences.

  • You will compose short musical ideals in each style.
